Principal's Report - Term 3, 2017

Dear families and friends,

Once again we find ourselves at the end of a very busy term. All staff have been extremely busy this term participating in professional learning and I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication. Our students have also excelled this term – academically and in the sporting arena – making me, as always, so proud to lead this school.

Despite the Small Schools Athletics Carnival being repeatedly cancelled due to poor weather we had some great results by our students at the Zone Carnival in August with our PP5 Relay team qualifying for the Regionals in Maitland and then astounding everyone by qualifying for the State Championships at Olympic Park in October! Well done to Connor, Holly, Archie and Patrick! On that note I would like to thank our students and our local community who have raised over $160 to assist our State runners with a cupcake stall at school and passing the hat around at the Krambach Hotel. It's wonderful to see so much support for our beautiful little school.

Our Year 3-6 students found themselves well and truly out of their comfort zones at the Adventure Land Camp this term. Lots more photos have been uploaded to our website so please take some time to see all of the amazing things our kids got up to while they were away. A big thanks to Miss C for taking time out of her own family life to supervise students on the camp. Many new friendships were made between our students and those from Coolongolook and Harrington Public Schools and students came back to school with a new sense of what they are capable of achieving.

I was approached early this year by representatives from the Variety Bash who asked if we would like a visit from their cars as they made their way from Melbourne to Fraser Island as part of their 2017 Variety Bash. Little did we realise what an amazing event this would be. The Variety drivers were in full costume and really enthusiastic to engage with our students. They were only scheduled to stay for an hour but had such a great time that they ended up staying for three! The raffle they organised raised $705.75 and our P&C sold over $489.00 worth of sausage sandwiches making it one of the biggest fundraisers for the year. A huge thank you to the Variety Bash for making Krambach Public School a part of their journey – it's been described by many of our students as ‘The best day they had ever had'!.

Our Year 3 and 5 students participated in the NAPLAN Online Readiness Test which was a practice run for schools to assess their technology ahead of the 2018 roll-out of NAPLAN Online. Our younger students have been further participating in the L3 program and all students have benefited from the changes to classroom structure and the added advantage of structured learning support. As we approach a very busy Term 4 we look forward to seeing even greater improvements in student learning and engagement.

Our sincere thanks go to the Krambach Race Club who hosted a fundraising dinner recently which raised $1500.00 to go towards the cost of transporting students to and from the swim scheme during Term 4. This will help our families immensely in keeping down the costs of learning to swim.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a safe and relaxing spring break – I look forward to seeing everyone back for an action packed Term 4 on Monday 9 October 2017.
